It is a vacation you can only dream about but now it can come true. The first is Skopelos and Skiathos islands which are part of the Northern Sporades- A small group of islands northwest of Athens in the Northern Aegean. Skopelos is a beautiful Greek island which attracts thousands of tourists every year. It became very popular due to the Mamma Mia movie. The movie is mainly filmed on the island of Skopelos. So if you want to see the island in the film you should go to Skopelos. Locations where the film was shot is Kastani Bay and beach, and at Agios Ioannis, a rock with a small chapel in the north. Other locations are the port of Skiathos town and Damouchari in the Pelion region, north of Skiathos Skopelos is known for its beautiful beaches with their clean crystalline waters, surrounded by pine trees forests and also for the charming capital, built amphitheatrically in the heart of a bay, composed of whitewashed houses with tiled roofs in narrow alleys and stairs. Skopelos Island housed the majority of the Greek film shoot. Kastani beach, with its blue-green waters, is where is Tanya performs “Does Your Mother Know”, where Sophie and Sky are serenaded by the stags in “Lay All Your Love on Me” and where Donna and the dads bid Sophie and Sky goodbye in “I Have a Dream”. So for all of you who are asking if Villa Donna exists the answer is no, there is no Villa Donna on Skopelos. The building is a studio scene, but all the exteriors, views, path to villa Donna are located on Skopelos, just above Glysteri beach. Before you reach Glysteri beach you will a big iron gate that opens direct when you stop in front (you can go inside, it is only used to keep the goats of the land owners inside) and the dirt road leads you to the point where the exteriors and the views of Villa Donna are located!
