We did the research and can arrange a wonderful vacation on the islands where the hit movie Mama Mia or Capt. Corelli’s Mandolin were filmed. It is a vacation you can only dream about but now it can come true.
The first is Skopelos and Skiathos islands which are part of the Northern Sporades- A small group of islands northwest of Athens in the Northern Aegean.
Skopelos is a beautiful Greek island which attracts thousands of tourists every year.
It became very popular due to the Mamma Mia movie. The movie is mainly filmed on the island of Skopelos. So if you want to see the island in the film you should go to Skopelos.
Locations where the film was shot is Kastani Bay and beach, and at Agios Ioannis, a rock with a small chapel in the north. Other locations are the port of Skiathos town and Damouchari in the Pelion region, north of Skiathos
Skopelos is known for its beautiful beaches with their clean crystalline waters, surrounded by pine trees forests and also for the charming capital, built amphitheatrically in the heart of a bay, composed of whitewashed houses with tiled roofs in narrow alleys and stairs.
Skopelos Island housed the majority of the Greek film shoot. Kastani beach, with its blue-green waters, is where is Tanya performs “Does Your Mother Know”, where Sophie and Sky are serenaded by the stags in “Lay All Your Love on Me” and where Donna and the dads bid Sophie and Sky goodbye in “I Have a Dream”.
So for all of you who are asking if Villa Donna exists the answer is no, there is no Villa Donna on Skopelos. The building is a studio scene, but all the exteriors, views, path to villa Donna are located on Skopelos, just above Glysteri beach. Before you reach Glysteri beach you will a big iron gate that opens direct when you stop in front (you can go inside, it is only used to keep the goats of the land owners inside) and the dirt road leads you to the point where the exteriors and the views of Villa Donna are located!
There are some very good resorts such as ADRINA BEACH hotel - A most romantic setting , the hotel is built on a slope leading to a literally "private beach".

Skopelos cannot be reached directly by plane but you can fly to nearby Skiathos island (airport code-JSI )and take a hydrofoil/katamaran or ferry to the northern port of Loutraki (below Glossa village 15min to 30 min) or the main port of Skopelos island at Skopelos village (35 min to 1 hour).
The National Airport of Skiathos is found 3 km from Skiathos town.

The Skiathos island is famous for its beautiful beaches adorning its coastline.

Another vacation from the movies is Kefalonia Island Greece, one of the most popular destinations of the Ionian Islands and the biggest island of the group. There Captain Corelli’s Mandolin with Nicolas Cage was filmed.
It is located between Lefkada and Zakynthos. The Greek Island has many wonderful beaches with fine sand and turquoise, bleach-like waters, specific to the island.
Others of its many beauties are its picturesque villages, its National Park on its highest mountain (Mount Ainos) on which a rare specie of fir forest grows and terrific landscapes.
Most of the filming of Captain Corelli's Mandolin took place in Sami, a village 9 km south of Agia Efimia, where a huge and beautiful set was built. The campsite of the Italians was built on the beach of Antisamos bay North of Agia Efimia village you will find the bay shown above (where part of the filming took place), and it can be reached in ten minutes by boat. Myrtos beach is situated approximately 5 minutes by car west of Agia Efimia. Myrtos Bay is where the bomb explosion on the beach took place in the film.
The airport is EFL and there are daily flights to Kefalonia from Athens, (take about 45 min.)

The hotel is named after Arion, the famous poet and composer who lived in samos from 625 to 585 BC. Mythology relates that once while he was travelling by sea, pirates stormed the boat and threatened to kill him. Arion requested that he be allowed to sing one last song. The wish granted, he sang with such feeling that a flock of dolphins gathered round the boat and when he was thrown overboard, one of them carried him on its back safely to the shore.
