A Week in Tenerife (Canary Island)
A real review from one of our clients What-Where-How to enjoy the best of the wonderful island of Tenerife with a Lefantasy Girl! Hi, I am Ted, I am a client of Lefantasy for more than 5 years and every year I choose another location for my week vacation around May-June. After I heard so much about Tenerife-the biggest island of the Canary Islands- I decided to try it this year with one of the pretty Lefantasy girls. There are so many pretty girls in Lefantasy and as every year Angela helps me choose the right one for me and it was amazing. I want to share this vacation with everyone and hope it will help other Lefantasy members to arrange their vacation in Tenerife the best they can. As all of us know you can't get the "real" picture till you are there, see it and experience it. The idea was to arrange a very good relaxing vacation, to see the island, to enjoy the local food and the night life. Below you can find some information – general and other and I hope it will be useful for you. Tenerife is the biggest island, one of 7 islands of the Canary Islands, located to far from North Africa but also not far from Europe. It is about 3 hours flight from Madrid, Barcelona, about 4 hours from London , Munich, Basel...there are a lot of low cost airlines that fly to Tenerife. Here you can find most of them: http://www.skyscanner.net/ There are 2 international airports in Tenerife- one in the South of the island- Tenerife Reina Sofia (TFS) and the other one in the North part of the island- Tenerife Norte (TFN). I think it is better to fly to the South part if you are planning to stay in the south, like I did. The weather in the South part of Tenerife is very good all year round - about 24 degree during the day and around 20 degrees during the night. Tenerife is the same time zone as the UK which mean one hour behind Europe. I met my LeFantasy girl in Madrid and we took direct flights with SpainAir to TFS. They have flights for about 100-150 Euros round trip. I rented a car at the airport for a week with Hertz and I can say now that it was a very good idea! It was very hard to choose hotel in Tenerife. There are so many good hotels and resorts and it is really depends on what you are looking for. If you want to be in a lively area, an area with a lot of activities, restaurants, shows and good beach I recommend you to choose one of the hotels in Playa De Las Americas- a very nice elegant area, most of the island activities are around this area. The area is full of 4-5 stars hotels and any type of restaurant you can imagine. Or just 4 km north in Costa Adeje- Playa De Duque-here there are some of the best expensive resorts in Tenerife like Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque Resort , or some other resorts with reasonable rates like Sheraton La Caleta Resort and Spa- very nice resort or Costa Adeje resort. In this area there are not many restaurants or night activities but it is just 10 min. by car to Playa De Las Americas. We stayed in Playa De Las Americas at Villa Cortes- a very nice elegant 5 star hotel. The rooms are quite big, the hotel has some swimming pools and beach. The view from the rooms are wonderful, especially the sea view rooms...don’t forget to watch the sunset at around 9-9:30 PM- especially with a Lefantasy girl beside you... In Playa De Las Americas you can enjoy every night another type of restaurant, most of them with a live music. We very much enjoyed a wonderful evening at Santa Fe- a Mexican restaurant with wonderful live Mexican and Spanish music, just 10 min. walk from Playa De Las Americas near to the beach. I recommend the show- Maria or Airam- wonderful Spanish modern dancing and flamenco, just..amazing.. here it is: http://www.airam-musical.com We had a chance to visit some other resorts in the area, Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora: http://es.solmelia.com/hotel/gran-melia-palacio-de-isora.htm It is a real wonderful resort on the beach!! The resort is about 30 min.drive (North-West road TF-47) from Playa De Las Americas in a small town called Alcala. The resort design is very special, huge open space lobby with white sofas and beds to lay down on. The resort has a very large swimming pool area on the beach. Bars and restaurants all around. You can get a massage on the water… You should know that there is almost no place to go out from the resort at night, the all activity is in the resort or you should drive about 30 minutes to the area of Adeje or Playa De Las Americas. What to see?We decided to spend a few days of the trip to go around and to explore this wonderful island. The North side is the green part of the island, there are very high mountains and some of them are covered with a real forest! From almost every point on the mountains you can see the ocean, usually from both sides..really a wonderful view!!!On our first day we drove to the North side which is about 50 minutes drive on the highway TF-1, till you arrive to Santa Cruze- There is no reason to spend time in the city so we follow the beach road to the north (road TF-11) till we arrive at San Andres and we took the same road up to the mountain to the area called Anaga. This is a very narrow road (about 12 km) but with an amazing view of the sea and the mountains, Every few minutes the landscape changes and at the top which is about 20 minutes drive you will be in a forest. Then we took the road TF-134 down to the other side of the island the west side, here you will find again very narrow road (about 10 km) with a special view of the cliffs and the ocean.- Please drive very carefully!! At the end of the road you will arrive to Taganana- a small village on the ocean surrounded with mountains, cliffs and deep Blue Ocean. Taganana is one of the oldest and most peaceful settlements on the island - it is also one of the most difficult to get to. One of the most remote villages on Tenerife, Taganana is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. The coast is full of big black rocks and the waves hit the rocks. Just sit down, relax and listen to the music of the sea. There is a very good fish restaurant on the beach (the second one) This is a time for a good lunch of fresh fish, you will get the fish with fresh big bread and small salty potatoes...wow it was very good And not expensive. Then you need to go up again-this is the only road- on the top you take road TF-12 direction La Laguna. You will drive on the back of the mountain in a heavy forest and on both sides you will see the ocean...a real special view!! On the way you will go through some special view points, stop the car, enjoy the amazing view and take some pics. After bout 40 km you will reach La Laguna. Very nice small university town, small streets with a lot of small shops and coffee shops..It is the time for afternoon coffee with a good piece of cake! From here we took TF-5 direction Santa Cruze and after few km take TF-2 which will take you to highway TF-1 back home. Our second day trip was to Masca area- north-west on the island. We took TF-1 direction west, after 10km the highway ends and you can choose the beach road TF-47 trough San Juan and Alcala ( you will see on your left side the Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora in Alcala- take a look inside..they have a good restaurant in the pool area..). A few km before Alcala you will see the big 5 stars resort – Abama. Or you can take road TF-82 above the beach, it is a better and faster road. In Santiago de Teide you take road TF- 436 which will take you up in the mountains to Masca area. This narrow road has real breathtaking scenery… Masca, The most beautiful village on Tenerife. one of only five villages within the Teno Rural Park, is tucked away in a deep ravine that runs all the way down to the coast. Masca, was only connected to the rest of the island by a bitumen road 10 years ago. Until then the only way to reach the village was by donkey or on foot. The view is really amazing and you can’t believe how people are living here… The road takes you down to a small beach town- Buenavista del Norte- this small town was considered by the Guanches to be the 'end of the world' and yes it is…..the rocky beach is wonderful and there is a wonderful restaurant on the water that serves the best fish we have eaten up to then, a very romantic place with the right company and good red wine… After a wonderful long late lunch we took TF-42 north up to San Pedro de Duate then road TF-421 back east. This is again a very narrow road with a wonderful view of the small towns on the beach below… We then took TF 82 back home. It was another really wonderful day! On our third day trip we went up to see the famous volcanic mountain-Teide- which is the highest mountain in Spain- 3718 m. We took the Playa De Les Americas road TF- 51 up to Arona Then TF-21 which will bring you to the National Park of Teide. This is about one hour drive in a very nice area, nice forest and again wonderful view. The park itself lies at around 2000 meters above sea level and in winter snow falls, gale winds blow and the roads are sometimes closed off. During the summer months this arid landscape gives the impression of having walked into a cowboy movie. It can reach temperatures above 40C. The area is cover by lava and looks like you are walking on the moon. We took the cable car that carried us almost to the very summit. It takes 8 min. We were lucky that it was a clear day, you are in heaven and have breathtaking views of Tenerife and the islands around- Gran canaria, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. This is the Canary Islands most visited tourist attraction and must not be missed!!! The rest of the week we just enjoyed the area around us, the wonderful beaches, the swimming pool and the local action. The people are very friendly, the food is very good and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I truly recommend you to take a break and visit this wonderful island and don’t forget to ask Angela to help you to choose the right girl!! |
